Baseball Field Backstop Netting

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

The supply of custom nets for baseball and softball field backstop installations is a very common occurrence here at Gourock.com.  Many different types of fields and stadiums require containment and barrier netting to keep balls from entering the stands, bleachers, or from flying into the surrounding parking lots or concession areas.  We have facilitated the design, production, and shipments of dozens (possibly hundreds) of custom netting panels for this exact application.  Whether you are souring netting solutions for a professional organization, community group, commercial facility, or a scholastic/municipal installation – chances are we have already successfully assisted a similar type of job in the past and can easily help you out with getting your upcoming project completed.

Generally speaking, the 1-3/4″ mesh size netting is what you have installed for baseball and softball barrier applications.  We supply the highest quality and most dependable netting material in this mesh size, which is the DuPont® Type 66-728 Twisted-Knotted Nylon Netting.  This netting selection has a very high abrasion resistance and tensile strength, and an excellent expectation of durability against the harsh effects of UV and the elements.  Featuring a latex/urethane bonding, UV stabilization, and black coloring – you can depend on the knotted nylon netting products supplied by Gourock.com.

One of the very convenient aspects of getting your backstop netting panels from Gourock is that you can order to any dimensions required for the job, and also spec most shapes/tapers as well.  The recommended approach is to go for 5/16″ Dacron® rope bordering sewn-in around the perimeter of each netting panel for maximum strength over the years, and usually the diamond mesh pattern will allow the production team to calculate the proper netting fit for your particular area.  The most popular twine thicknesses for baseball and softball containment nets are the #21 (241 lb./twine, 2.0mm) and the #36 (381 lb./twine, 2.5mm) – but we also have some options that are both thinner and thicker if you prefer.  Whatever you’re aiming for just use our contact page to inquire and we’ll get back to you with a quotation and suggestion.

Here is the most recent production from last week for a baseball club field in California that is completing a backstop installation.  Here are some of the features of this production for your reference, and images of the details follow:

  • #21 X 1-3/4″ (241 lb./twine) black twisted-knotted nylon netting
  • diamond mesh pattern
  • 5/16″ rope bordered on all edges
  • vertical rope riblines sewn-in for required installation attachments
  • additional horizontal rope ribline sewn-in for required installation attachments
