Netting to Block Windows and Odd Spaces

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014

Netting is a very multipurpose material that can be utilized as a great solution to block-off many odd-shaped spaces and areas.  At Gourock.com we have supplied netting panels to hundreds of customers that noted that they were using it for those sorts of installations.  Many times the areas that need to have a mesh barrier are required to be protected because there is a window present.  Other times there are other factors to account for as well, such as scoreboards, lights, or doorways.

Using the DuPontĀ® type 66-728 twisted-knotted nylon netting that we have available for customized productions, there are many options for your consideration when it comes down to requiring specialty dimensions, sizes, or shapes of your barrier netting.  There are a few other materials that we supply as well, but generally speaking the knotted nylon netting is used for the highly custom productions.  Depending on what it is that is required to be blocked or contained (the sizes of the objects to be protected from, in other words) you currently have mesh sizes available of 3/4″, 1″, 1-3/4″, and 4″.  And then there are many twine thicknesses of the netting as well.  A thicker twine will mean a stronger overall net, with a greater expectation of abrasion durability, along with a more visible look.

Sometimes the best match for a certain application is a very lightweight twine with a large mesh size, for instance for a basic basketball barrier use (the #15 X 4″ is very typical).  Another example is a multipurpose barrier installation that is intended to deter birds, large leafs, or general debris objects (something like the #12 X 1″ is popular for this).

So the most common sort of customization for barrier netting is simply the measurements of the height X length needed.  From Gourock.com you have the option to order and be supplied with practically any sort of dimensions that you may need.  We see nets that are quite small (4′ X 4′) to nets that are very large (100′ X 150′), and everything in-between.  But we also do a lot of specialty shapes and tapered/angled netting panels as well.  These are usually nets that are being used by our customers to barricade spaces like windows or to fill-in some odd-shaped areas.  Here are a couple examples from the last couple of weeks that will provide some context on these sorts of netting jobs – and certainly feel free to contact Gourock if you’d like us to take a look at your particular request!
