Netting for Drones and U.A.V. Applications

With the rising popularity of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (U.A.V.) over the last few years, there is a great need for barrier and protective netting for these units.  For many commercial, promotional, trade show, university testing, and developmental customers that specialize in drone operation and flights – barrier netting is often a required aspect of the U.A.V. operational areas.

Gourock.com specializes in the production and supply of custom nylon barrier nets for drone flight areas, and we have been shipping nets for a few years that are specifically ordered for this purpose.  There are many university research departments that require protective drone netting for their own labs and facilities – whereas there are very large consumer trade shows and promotional events that also require barrier netting for the drones that are being operated within the convention space.  And also, many new developments with the FAA are requiring not only increased requirements for registration of drones, but also increased requirements for protective barrier and safety netting for drones at airports, hangers, and commercial/recreational flight locations.

Regardless of whatever your particular use is for your drone or U.A.V. units, chances are you will eventually need to consider the installation or sourcing of barrier netting at some point.  Luckily, Gourock has great options available for you, and the nylon barrier nets are produced per-order according to any particular dimensions that you require.  You can visit this page of the Gourock store to enter your dimensions and get pricing and supply options.

Generally speaking, the most typical and recommended barrier netting options for drone uses are:
#12 X 1-3/4″ knotted nylon netting
#21 X 1-3/4″ knotted nylon netting
#15 X 4″ knotted nylon netting
#30 X 4″ knotted nylon netting

All of which we supply, and all of which we supply from the highest-quality USA produced nylon material on the market – DuPont® Type 66-728 Twisted-Knotted Nylon.
You have options of ordering bulk netting sections, or ordering the netting finished-off with a 5/16″ polyester rope bordering that is woven and sewn-in around the edges of the mesh.
Bulk netting is great for general-use installations that may require the material to be cut, trimmed, or modified in some fashion as it is being installed.  Whereas the rope bordered nets are great for jobs that have the nets being clipped, hung, or installed in ways that are a bit more permanent or “set” in their sizing needs.  The extra material and strength of the rope bordering enhances the durability of the netting perimeter (considering aspects like wind, abrasion, and full-time/permanent installs) as well as increasing the ease-of-use of the netting panels as they are being installed at your location.

Free netting samples of these drone barrier netting options are always available to be mailed out for inspection if needed, and simply contact us with your mailing address to receive them!

  1. Good afternoon,

I want a quote for “#15 X 4″ knotted nylon netting” (for drone netting). Please I ask you to provide us with the FLAME CERTIFICATE. This certificate is very important to us because Orange County (in Florida) requires it to grant us permission to build laboratory facilities.

    Sincerely,
    Joaquin Valencia

    1. Great speaking with you this week Joaquin! NFPA 701 was emailed your way for the fire/flame certification paperwork you are seeking for the nylon twine. The samples you have requested have been mailed out as well. Thanks again!
