Industrial Bird Barrier Netting, Bird Exclusion and Control Nets

Gourock.com specializes in the supply of all types of customized nylon and polyester nets, that are used for a very wide variety of end-user purposes.  Aside from a lot of the athletic and general containment applications that are pretty well-associated with netting installations, there are many industrial and commercial netting applications that are very popular and necessary as well.  One of them is barrier netting for bird exclusion and aviary needs.

Bird barrier and bird exclusion netting is often required at many industrial and commercial locations such as production plants, warehouses, retention ponds, transportation depots, and storage facilities.  Depending on the amount of “blocking” coverage a particular project needs there are a variety of mesh sizes and twine thicknesses that are most applicable for bird netting installations.  For example, large retention ponds that surround airports, mining and oil operations, and heavy-industrial properties usually need a netting to act as a deterrent against larger wild birds that need to stay away from the pond contents.  So what we generally see being sourced in those instances is the 1-3/4″ square mesh or 4″ square mesh twisted-knotted nylon netting.
However, there are a lot of warehouse and facility installations that want to deter large birds as well as small birds, so in those cases we typically see the 1″ knotted nylon netting being most preferred.
We do provide a great selection of bird barrier netting options on the Gourock site right here, and our bird netting options can be priced and ordered according to most any particular dimensions/sizes that you need.  Custom netting is our speciality!

And then, there are netting projects that not only take into account the mesh/twine considerations and the customized sizing, but also have very particular needs for the material to be fabricated to specific shapes.  For instance, here is an example from last month in which all of these factors came into play:

Client:  commercial recycling and refuse facility

Bird Netting Application:  several pavilion-style storage buildings (see image below), and wanting to deter both large and small wild birds

Netting Selection:  #18 X 1″ DuPontĀ® type 66-728 twisted-knotted nylon, diamond mesh, tar-coated, with 5/16″ polyester rope bordering.  This material was selected due to it’s mesh size, as well as this particular netting being extremely resilient to the elements in harsher outdoor conditions (this facility is located in Maine), and being the higher tensile strength 1″ option which for maximum overall durability.

Fabrication Considerations:  very customized shape (see image below) designed to follow the contour of the pavilion roof as closely as possible.  Also, this customer wanted to allow themselves the opportunity for vehicles and personnel to pass-through the netting like a curtain – so each end of each building used two of these nets that would meet in the middle.  One net on the left, and one net on the right (mirror image).  There were 12 of these nets produced and shipped for this first phase of the job.  31′ tall X 26′ wide with the angled/contoured shape shown.
